Ethiopian Prayer boxes are made in Ethiopia. I do the beading around them. I get them through fair trade directly from an Ethiopian dealer. Ethiopian is one of the oldest Jewish and Christian nations. Their history can be traced to the oldest human found on Earth “Lucy”. Ethiopia has a rich history and has the oldest Kingdom-ship/ Queendomship line in all of history. They can trace their history from the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon BC all the way to King Haile Saelassie I in 1973 AD. So to have a piece of jewelry from Ethiopia is a true treasure indeed.
Chain is beaded and clasp is a toggle style made of sterling silver. The pendant itself is most likely made from 1780 Maria Teresa coins or what ever metal is available in the village.
